Jenny Miller, MAPC

I am first and foremost a lover of Jesus Christ. I would not be here today if it were not for His love and grace.

My journey to becoming a counselor was a long one. I felt a calling to pursue becoming a counselor as a young adult, but it would be many years before I was ready to answer that call. My story includes many struggles including abuse, addiction, rejection, abandonment, and trauma for which I myself have been a client of professional counseling services for many years. In 2012, after our family moved into our forever home in the country, I decided to pursue becoming a pastoral counselor. Little did I know that only a few months later (after I had submitted my college application), I would be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and enter two years of grueling chemo treatments, surgeries, and radiation.

In 2014, I reapplied to college and entered a Psychology Program. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Crisis & Trauma Counseling from Liberty University (Summa Cum Laude). In 2017, after encountering some personal difficulties, I re-entered the therapy process with a trauma trained counselor and discovered that I had been suffering from Complex PTSD and anxiety. So began my personal work of healing from trauma.

In 2017, I graduated from Liberty University with a Masters in Pastoral Counseling with an emphasis in Crisis & Trauma Counseling (with High Distinction). I completed my graduate-level internship at a counseling agency where I also filled the role of Program Manager. In 2021, I became an ordained minister through Freedom Church where I continue to volunteer in various capacities including the worship team as a musician and singer.

I have recently been accepted into Walden University where I am pursuing a second masters degree and clinical licensure in their Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with an emphasis in Crisis & Trauma.

Previous Work:

I also served as volunteer Program Director for SHERecovery (2010-2019), a ministry devoted to helping women recover and heal from sexual addiction. My personal story of freedom has been featured in Dirty Girls Come Clean, by author Crystal Renaud. I was also blessed to be able to be a contributor to the 90 Days to Wholeness devotional. My undergrad work was completed working with survivors of sex trafficking at a restorative residential program in the city of Baltimore, MD.
